One of my stories, "In Suspension," has been published in the Fall 2020 issue of Amarillo Bay. In it, Elena and her daughter Becca travel through the English countryside on their way to Glastonbury Tor, which some say is the Isle of Avalon, King Arthur's final (or maybe interim) resting place. This is the last trip Elena will take, so she finds that a fitting end for the literary scholar she has been. Becca is interested instead in the drowned village they will pass along the way, a village held in suspension in the new reservoir the way she feels she's been suspended all her life.
"Back in childhood, in school, in earth science, she had been fascinated at the thought of solids suspended in liquids, particles become invisible. And now it thrilled her in a weird, uneasy way to think about whole villages and cities suspended."
